Jio New Year Plan 2020: Jio 2020 Happy New Year Offer
Reliance Jio on Monday announced its '2020 Happy New Year Offer' for both smartphones and feature phone users in India.The telco said that its smartphone users can pay Rs 2020 and get one year of unlimited services. Feature phone users, on the other hand, can get a JioPhone free bundled with 12 months of unlimited services upon paying Rs 2020.
Jio's smartphone subscribers will get 1.5 GB data per day, unlimited Jio-to-Jio voice calls, SMS for a recharge of Rs 2020 which is valid for a year, Jio said in a statement. Feature phone users will get 500 MB data per day and unlimited Jio-to-Jio voice calls, SMS. It said that fair usage policy will apply to both offers for off-net calls or calls made to telcos like Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL.
Jio said that the offer will be available from December 24, 2019. According to people aware, the offer will be available till the first week of January. Also interestingly, the new offer comes close to its Rs 2199 price plan with similar offerings. Therefore, this will be an attractive proposition for new subscribers who will have to pay Rs 179 less if they recharge within the offer period.
Jio on December 6 raised its tariffs by nearly 40%, but some of its plans. Under new plans, Jio customers pay Rs 199 for 1.5 GB data per day for 28 days, which is 25% cheaper than the plans of rivals offering similar benefits, charging around Rs 249. Those used to pay Rs 399 for 84 days validity now pay Rs 555, a 39% jump.
The telco which upended the market in September 2016 with its tariff rates and forced rivals to bring down their price plans expects its average revenue per user (ARPU) to improve after the latest increase in rates. Jio’s ARPU fell for the seventh successive quarter to Rs120 in the July-September period. After the price hike, analysts estimate Jio’s ARPU to increase to over Rs 140 by the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020.
